Wallace Amory Evans, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and loyal brother, passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 71. Wallace lived a life marked by quiet strength, hard work, and a deep love for his family and the simple joys of life.
Born on November 7, 1953, Wallace was a man of steady character and a generous heart. He retired from a long and accomplished career as a computer programmer with Gwinnett County, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. In retirement, he filled his days with the things he loved most—golfing, working on his truck, woodworking, and relaxing at home on his beloved swing.
Wallace was the son of the late Lonzo Evans and the late Callie Sue Dixon. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Terry Jo Evans, who stood by his side through life’s many seasons. He was a proud father to his daughter, Jackie Vaughn, and son-in-law, Rick Vaughn, and the adoring “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren, Hannah and Evan Vaughn, who brought endless joy to his life.
He is also survived by his brother Ronnie Evans (Vicky), and sisters Barbara Sharp (Roy) and Sharon Wilkins (Bobby), and several nieces and nephews.
Those who knew Wallace will remember him as a simple man who found contentment in the everyday—time spent with family, a good round of golf, a project in the workshop, or a peaceful moment on the swing by his shop. He lived with humility, worked with integrity, and loved his family with all his heart.
Wallace will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. His legacy of love, quiet wisdom, and genuine kindness will live on in those he leaves behind.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday May 29, 2025 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Athens, Georgia with Dr. Stanley Satterfield and Mr. Terry Chambers officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick Vaughn, Nick Stephens, Richie Aaron, Justin McClure, Corey Wilkins and Casey Wilkins. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.
