The world lost a remarkable woman on May 15, 2025 when Gwendolyn French Beverly (BKA sister, Gwen, Sister Baby) passed away at the age of 77 in Gainesville, Georgia. She built a legacy of love, resilience, and determination along with integrity that will definitely endure through generations to follow. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, James L. & Willie M. French.
Gwen is survived by her two vivacious daughters, Chanda Beverly Tabor & Cherie Beverly of Flowery Branch, GA; brother, Lorenzo Whitfield of Mobile, AL; two granddaughters, Aaliyah Tabor of MD & Alexis Tabor of Flowery Branch, GA; two grandsons, Sheron Hall, Jr. & Kyrie Long of Flowery Branch, GA; four sisters-in-law, Clarice Whitfield of Mobile, AL, Juanita McGowan of MS, Mary William & Shirley Jerkins of Mobile, AL; two brothers-in-law, David (Hope) Beverly & Anthony Beverly of AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Gwen was a present community activist. Everyone knew her and she did not meet a stranger.
Gwen was a graduate of Trinity Gardens High School and she also attended Bishop State Junior College; she then went on to further her career at Ingalls shipyard and Mobile County Public School System. A devoted church member of Mt. Hebron Ministries of Prichard, AL, devoted friends along the way, Lauretta Washam, Jackie Smith, The Matthews of Trinity Gardens. A dear godbrother, Joaquin Wilson.
