Kenneth Lamar Stephens, age 67, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar Stephens; mother, Ellen Warbington Moore; brother, Ronnie Stephens; brother-in-law, Scott Dowdy; father-in-law, Harold Dowdy. Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Deedee Dowdy Stephens of Flowery Branch, GA; daughters, Nicole (Josh) Lineberry of Flowery Branch, GA, Brandy (Greg) Hooper of Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren, Gavin Lineberry, Ella Grace Hooper; sister, Karen (Danny) Wigley of Sugar Hill, GA; brothers, Scott Stephens of Duluth, GA, Tim Stephens of Buford, GA; mother-in-law, Patricia Deaton Dowdy of Cleveland, GA, brother-in-law, Chuck Dowdy (Sheina Bailey) of Jefferson, GA; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was born on April 18, 1958 in Duluth, GA. Mr. Stephens graduated from North Gwinnett High School located in Suwanee, GA in 1976. He was the owner of Stephens Upholstery Shop in Buford for eighteen years. He also worked for General Motors Assembly Plant in Doraville, GA for twenty-five years. Mr. Stephens was a member of the Lanier Church of God where he was an Elder of the church. He also taught Sunday School and sang in the Choir. He was a member of the American Street Rodders, member of the Atlanta Street Rodders and several other car clubs. Mr. Stephens was well known for his upholstery work and for his show cars. Mr. Stephens loved coaching his children and grandchildren in softball. He enjoyed putting on car shows and the Tours of World Wheels for several years. Mr. Stephens was a Georgia Bulldog fan and an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and coaching them in softball. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Buford Church of God with Rev. Jimmy Dunn and Pastor Bob Trejo officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford with a Graveside Service with Pastor Joey Grizzle officiating. The family will receive friends at Flanigan Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
The family would like to invite all Street Rodders to drive their cars in the funeral procession on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or to the Shriner’s Children Hospital in memory of Kenny Stephens.
