Terrell Franklin Leverette

Obituary Date: Sunday, May 18, 2025

Terrell Franklin Leverette, born on January 14, 1938, in Toccoa, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, warmth, and determination.

Terrell was preceded in death by his parents, Joel Nathaniel Leverette Sr. and Sally Hunter Leverette, as well as his brothers Joel Nathaniel Jr. and Lonnie Leverette, and his sisters Lucille Turpin and Betty Bohannon.

Though deaf from an early age, Terrell never allowed his hearing loss to define or limit him. He lived an extraordinary life, touching the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Terrell pursued his education at the Georgia School for the Deaf and later attended Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.—a place where he embraced his identity and community.

He went on to enjoy a successful 28-year career at Boeing in Los Angeles, where his dedication and work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues. After retiring, Terrell returned to his hometown of Toccoa, where he continued to stay active in the community. He spent several fulfilling years at the Wilkinson Center and was well known for his love of being on the go—always driving around and visiting new places with enthusiasm, a smile on his face and curiosity. He was enthused by his Cherokee Heritage and had a great love for his Aunt Annie Warren Hunter.

Terrell is survived by a host of loving cousins and great nieces and nephews, including his devoted cousin Michelle Ivester, who lovingly cared for him during his final weeks. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him—for his strength, his kindness, and the joy he brought to every room he entered.

A celebration of Terrell’s life will honor the enduring spirit of a man who truly made his mark on the world and will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 4 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the service time.  Online condolence may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
