LaVern R. Porter

Mrs. LaVern R. Porter, 95, of Chestnut Mountain, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 17, 2025 at her home following an extended illness. She was a member of the Chicopee Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Oakwood High School and Perry Business School. She had retired from a very fulfilling career working with the Hall County School System.

LaVern loved the Lord with all her heart and always served others with a smile on her face. She was our precious sweet mother and “Nana” and showed her love for her family and friends with her special, personal notes, cards and gifts. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Hoyt and they shared many happy years together. We are so blessed to have known her and to have been loved by her.

Born on March 5, 1930 in South Hall County, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hoyt K. Porter. Parents, Jessie Lee Roberts and Paralee Shubert Roberts, grandson, Brandon Lee Porter and sisters, Myrtice Cain and Ruby Williams. Mrs. Porter is survived by her children, Stanley K. Porter of Chestnut Mountain and Ricky L. Porter (Tina) of Gainesville; grandchildren, Dusty Porter (Kalen), Jessica Dennis (Andrew); great grandchildren, Macie Porter, Millie Porter, Skyla Dennis and Walker Dennis; sister Annette Turk and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Robby Williams, Rev. Phil Carpenter, and grandson Dusty Porter will
officiate the service. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA. 30504 is in charge of the arrangements.
