Mildred Wilkes Allen

Obituary Date: Saturday, April 26, 2025

Mildred Wilkes Allen, most recently of Round Rock, Texas, died peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 101.

Mildred was born on May 7, 1923, in Toombs County, Georgia to the late Sindy Monroe Wilkes and Roach H. Wilkes.  She grew up in south Georgia, working farms with her family and attending Pine Grove school in Candler County.

Mildred married Ralph H. Allen on October 17, 1947.  Shortly after, they moved north to Hall County, Georgia where they eventually settled in Flowery Branch near other family members who had also migrated north to Hall County.

Mildred was a devout Christian, and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Mildred was a stay-at-home mom to her son, Randy, for several years; after which she began a career as an egg candler at Crystal Farms in Chestnut Mountain, where she eventually retired.

Mildred was widowed in 1999 after 51 years of marriage to Ralph and continued to live in Flowery Branch until 2007, when she moved to Round Rock, Texas to be with her son, Randy, and his family.  There, she became an integral part of the household and surrounding neighborhood, where she could often be seen walking in the nearby park, chatting with fellow walkers.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her son, Randy; and siblings, Tisha Collins, Irene Isenhower, Evelyn Huggins, Cleon Wilkes, Eleanor Caine, and Thelma Wilkes.  She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jackie Allen, Round Rock, Texas; grandsons Christopher Allen and Brian Allen, both of Round Rock, Texas; her brother, Elmer Wilkes, Flowery Branch, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Trinadee Vega and great-great granddaughters Elena and Aria, Commerce City, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 21 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville, Georgia.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm; with funeral services at 2:00 pm in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
