Gayle Gilstrap Barnes, 79, of Clermont, GA, passed away and met the Lord on May 14, 2025 surrounded by all of her closest loved ones.
She was born on July 2, 1945 in Gainesville, GA, the daughter of Howard and Novelle Gilstrap. She graduated from North Hall High School in 1963 as valedictorian of her class. She was a homemaker, banker, a mother of 3 wonderful kids (her favorite job of all), and retired from the Hall County School System. She was married to Robert (Bobby) Barnes on June 19, 1965. She is cherished by many and has been a fierce and constant prayer warrior for her family for decades.
Nana, Mom, Sis, Darlin, she went by so many names. Gayle had the most precious spirit, and she was kind to everyone surrounding her. She inspired others to see God in the big things and the small, to be content and grateful no matter what the circumstance, and to truly see and appreciate all of nature’s beauty. She loved to serve in her church, spend time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and some good trips to Pigeon Forge and the Cherokee River. She reminded others not to take life too seriously with her spunk, sass, and sense of humor and could brighten the dimmest room! James 1:17 reminds us that every good and perfect gift is from above, and we know that she is one of our greatest gifts of this life!
Remaining to keep Gayle’s legacy alive are her spouse, Bobby Barnes, children Chad (Karen) Barnes, Kimberly (Anthony) Hall, and Chris (Paige) Barnes, her grandchildren: Emily (Michael) Tymchuk, Courtney Barnes, Christen (Cole) Brooks, and Macy (Grayson) Scroggs. She is also survived by her brother Lynn (Peggy) Gilstrap.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17th, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. The funeral service will be held at the Memorial Park Riverside Chapel at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 18th. Interment to follow at Winds of Peace Fellowship Cemetery, 1550 Harmony Church Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534. Memorial flowers in Gayle’s memory can be sent to Memorial Park Riverside Chapel.
