Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Betty Elrod Gibson, age 85 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Sunday, May 11, 2025. Mrs. Gibson was born in Winder, Georgia a daughter of the late J.T. Elrod and the late Ruth Jacks Elrod. Mrs. Gibson attended Redstone Methodist Church where she often played the piano and was a retired Coordinator for the U.S.D.A.. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gibson is preceded by her husband James Aubrey Gibson, Jr., sister Claire Venable, brothers, T.O. and Jimmy Elrod, and a nephew, Steve Venable.
Survivors include two daughters, Rita Baker of Danielsville, and Robyn Ayotte of Flowery Branch. Son, Jason Gibson (Jennifer) of Clarkesville. Sister, Martha Nelms of Athens. Grandchildren, Jasper Gibson, Jaden Gibson, Janakate Gibson, Bryan Nelms, Amber Winship and Stephen Ayotte. Nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Crabb and Tim Venable officiating with burial to follow in Redstone Methodist Church Cemetery. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Randy Venable, Jaden Gibson, Alex Brooks, Draygon Brooks, Matthew Maxwell and Doug Nelms. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, prior to the service at Evans Funeral Home.
