Eva Mae Murphy Holmes

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Eva Mae Murphy Holmes, age 85, of Maysville, who entered rest May 11, 2025. Mrs. Holmes was born February 26, 1940 in Gainesville, Georgia a daughter of the late Guy and Verona Chumbler Murphy. Mrs. Holmes was a retired seamstress and a member of Lighthouse Holiness Church.

Mrs. Holmes is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Thomas Holmes; sons, Charles “Tuna” Holmes and Dorsey “Pete” Cochran; daughters-in-law, Deana Holmes and Connie Cochran also seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son, Steve Holmes, Maysville; two daughters; Margaret Canup (Terry), Joyce Anderson (Grady), Martin; daughter-in-law, Sharon Holmes, Maysville. Twelve grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, May 15 2025, from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Holmes officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12 PM until 2 Pm Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens.
