Huong Bui Holder passed away peacefully at her home in the presence of her loving family on Friday, May 9, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She defied the odds with grace, strength, and unwavering determination.
Huong was born on September 2, 1949, to Mr. Sang Van and Mrs. Lam Thi Bui in Saigon, Vietnam. She lived a life defined by love, resilience, and service to others. She was a devoted wife to Lee Elders and a deeply cherished mother to TJ Vickers, Mai Lien Shedd, Jim Holder, and Kevin Holder. She was also a proud and adoring Granny, whose face lit up at the mention of her grandchildren.
Huong had four sisters who were each an important part of her life. Her older sister, Phung Holland, lived nearby, and they shared a special bond. Her sister, Lien Van, still lives in Vietnam, and Huong held a deep love for her across the distance. She was also preceded in death by two beloved sisters, Nu and Au, whose memories she carried in her heart with great tenderness and affection.
Huong was a great aunt who enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, always ready to support and care for them, bringing joy and warmth to their lives.
She loved the simple things in life, like cooking Vietnamese food for her kids and grandkids, shopping, dining out, and enjoying the company of those she loved. Whether it was preparing a traditional dish or savoring a meal at a favorite restaurant, these moments brought her great joy.
Huong worked as a nail technician and found joy in making others feel beautiful and cared for. Outside of work, she cherished the peaceful moments of rocking in her favorite chair, tending to her plants, and watching birds. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of her home-cooked meals. Her laugh was infectious and full of life, a sound that made us all laugh and reminded everyone around her to find happiness in the small moments.
She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, giving heart, and how she lived life to the fullest. Her generosity, deep devotion to family and friends, and her ability to light up any room will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Even in her final days, Huong reminded her children and grandchildren not to be sad, but to be strong and not to cry. Her strength and courage remain a lasting gift to those she loved most.
Huong loved bright colors with yellow being her favorite. She often told us not to wear dark clothes, especially to her celebration of life. To honor her wishes the family requests that all guests wear bright colors to represent her vibrant spirit.
A celebration of Huong’s life will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5257 Hwy. 53 Braselton, Georgia 30517.
Huong leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
