Ruth Eloise Foster

Ruth Eloise Foster, age 93, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on May 9, 2025. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on December 27, 1931, to the late Rev. James V. Casteel and the late Eula Kate Skinner Casteel. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her children Mary Catherine Reynolds, Peggy Bovell Reynolds Pullen, and Larry Joe Reynolds, as well as siblings Ernest Casteel, James Casteel, William Casteel, Joe Clyde Casteel, John Calvin Casteel, and Bertha Casteel.

She is survived by her children Albert Reynolds Jr. (Beth), Alfred Reynolds (Linda), William "Clarence" Reynolds (Gina), Raymond Reynolds "Tommy", and daughter-in-law Bessie Reynolds. Ruth is also survived by siblings Mary Francis Casteel and Edna Earl Tadlock. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also cherish her memory.

Ruth was known as a loving mother and grandmother. She had a stern, yet fair demeanor and never sought help despite raising six children on her own. Ruth was widely regarded as one of the kindest souls one could meet, embodying sweetness that endeared her to all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Clarence Reynolds will officiate. Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the service hour.
