Helen Law Perry

Obituary Date: Monday, May 5, 2025

Mrs. Helen Law Perry, age 64, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025, with her loving family at her side.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, May 9, 2025 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Gainesville, with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery.  Reverend Jerry Helton, Reverend Fletcher Law and Reverend Ron Grizzle will officiate.

Helen was born March 10, 1961 in Gainesville, Ga.  She was the daughter of the late George Hammond Law, Jr. and Susan Reid (Manley) Law.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Law Hein.

Helen was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville.  She graduated from Brenau University with Bachelor’s Degree in Business, and later decided to pursue further education with the University of Georgia with a Master’s Degree in Business Education, and continued her education at Piedmont with her Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership.

Helen and her husband Mike were lovingly married for forty-five years, and they had known each other for forty-eight years.  They met while Mike was working for her father George.  Helen loved her husband, Mike, three sons, and her grandson, Josiah, with all of her heart.  She always had their best interest at heart.  She was their biggest advocate and supporter.

Like her mother, Susan, and grandmother, Zella Mae Newton, Helen was exceptionally talented in needlepoint; she produced so many works of art that decorated her home and Christmas trees.  One of her favorite trips, her mother, Susan, and Helen traveled to the Royal School of Needlework in the United Kingdom.  Helen was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Helen’s favorite place to travel with her family was St. Simons Island to visit her parents and enjoy the beach.

Helen loved the game of football.  She drew this love from her father, George “Junebug” Law.  She loved to attend University of Georgia football games, especially with her dad when he was able, but more than anything, she loved to watch her sons growing up playing football.  When they became adults, she was their number one fan in the stands with her husband Mike cheering for her sons coaching football.

Helen was a long time educator with Gainesville High School.  She loved working with her colleagues and serving as the Work-Based Learning Coordinator where she helped shape students’ future employment.  Also, Helen served as a Gainesville High School Football Cheerleading coach with her close friend Kim Davis.  She built many long lasting meaningful relationships with her cheerleaders and colleagues through the years.  She loved her community, family, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Mike Perry of Gainesville; sons, Michael Perry (Elia); of Gainesville; Tyler Perry and Lewis Perry all of Gainesville; grandson, Josiah Perry of Gainesville; brother, Hammond Law (Bree) of Gainesville; sister, Susan Law Tarleton of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, Fletcher Law (Kay) of Gainesville.
