Jimmie Stringer

Obituary Date: Saturday, May 3, 2025

Jimmie Stringer was born in Thomasville, Georgia, on November 23, 1935, to parents Roy and Mary Stringer. He grew up in Miami, Florida, where he attended school. For high school, he attended and graduated from George Washington Carver Senior High School (1956) in Coconut Grove.

Jimmie was a wonderful athlete, excelling in both football and track. After graduating, he moved to Brooklyn, New York, to start a new chapter in his life. It was here that he met Catherine Ealey and the two were married on March 7, 1970. They later relocated to Queens, New York, and had two children, Craig and Erika Stringer.

Jimmie felt the deep calling from God to service and answered it by becoming an ordained minister on August 12, 1979. He later went on to graduate from New York Theological Seminary, on May 23, 1982. He devoted his life to faith, service, and assisting others, leading many to God through Jesus Christ. His ministry was characterized by strong intercessory prayer and a healing gift.

Jimmie was also a diligent worker. He spent many years as a dedicated long-haul truck driver, traveling the country and taking pride in his work. A master of tools and renovations, he found great joy and purpose in building, repairing, and improving the homes and lives of those around him. In his later years, he supported his wife Catherine after her appointment as a City Marshal in New York City on December 6, 1985. After many years of working together in the business, Jimmie and Catherine retired in 2007 and moved to Georgia. After acclimating to Georgia, Jimmie earned a Certificate in Religious Studies from Gainesville State College on May 1, 2011.

Jimmie had a love for cooking, always delighting family and friends with delicious meals made from the heart, especially his chili. He also took great pride in his yard, spending countless hours cultivating beautiful gardens and creating a welcoming outdoor space for all to enjoy.

Jimmie will be remembered as a man of God who was a forerunner and bridged people into their destinies. He was known for offering guidance and corrective advice with a sincere heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. The pain of his loss is only eased by the understanding that he is no longer suffering and has been made whole.

Jimmie is survived by his children, Craig and Erika Stringer; daughter-in-law, Seer Stringer; grandchildren, Dorian (Dor) and Yehshai (Peach) Stringer; great-granddaughter, Storm (Stormy) Stringer; close relation, Syncair Smith (The Boy); siblings, Mildred Williams and Willie-Frank Stringer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He is predeceased by his parents, Roy Stringer and Mary Ponders; his wife, Catherine Stringer; and his siblings, Nathaniel Stringer and Roy Stringer. Jimmie will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 10th, at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanagan Funeral Home with Minister Craig Stringer officiating.  Viewing hours are from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., until  the time of Service.
