On the night of April 23, 2025, the Lord called home one of His most faithful craftsmen—Donnie Lamar Smith, age 63. Born on January 25, 1962, to Clyde and Francine Smith, Donnie was a man of grit, grace, and boundless generosity. He now rests in peace, preceded in death by his father Clyde Smith, beloved nephew Whitney Duffourc, and trusted brother-in-law Henry Duffourc (Vickie).
Donnie was a man who saw beauty where others saw rust. As the proud owner of Donnie Smith’s Paint and Body Shop, he spent his days breathing new life into what was once broken—turning metal and memory into moving masterpieces. His heart beat to the roar of a rebuilt engine, and his favorite color, orange, burned bright in his work and his spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife Misty Evans Smith, his children: Corey Smith (Christin), Windy Brook Smith, Ben Smith (Alarrika), and stepdaughter Annie David (Clint). He was a devoted brother to Kay Haugen (Dave) and Vickie Duffourc. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Hadley, Syntry, Jasper and his step grandchildren Ryleigh and Greyson. His memory will also be carried on by his nephew and nieces: Andrew, Sarah (Brandon), and Victoria (Jeff).
Donnie’s life was a testimony of Isaiah 61:3—“To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes…” He lived to restore—cars, hearts, and hope. Though his hands are now at rest, his legacy rides on.
Funeral service will be held, Sunday at 3PM from Mt. Pleasant UMC, Homer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5-7PM.
Little-Ward Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
