Betty Free Cantrell

Betty Free Cantrell, age 88, of Buford, GA passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Cantrell; son, Jeff Cantrell; grandson, Josh Cantrell; parents, M. L. and Mozelle Morrison Free; sisters, Martha Johnson, Barbara Holbrooks, Judy Ferguson.  Mrs. Cantrell is survived by daughter, Georgia D. “DeeDee” (Berry) Parker of Buford; grandchildren, Tabitha Cantrell, Chase and Caroline Parker; great grandchildren, Landon Parker, Bentley Parker, Emmett Parker, Link Parker, Skarlett Cantrell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Cantrell was born on May 21, 1936 in Habersham County, and was in the graduating class of 1954 at North Habersham High School. She retired as a Media Clerk from Lanier Middle School, and prior to that she had worked for Trust Company Bank. Mrs. Cantrell taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School through the years, and was a charter member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee where she was a beloved nursery worker for many years. More recently, she was a member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church in Buford. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Dale officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until time for the service at 3:00 p.m.
