Bobby Gene “B.G.” Hodnett

Bobby Gene “B.G.” Hodnett, 85, of Gainesville, passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. 
Mr. Hodnett was born September 22, 1939, in Lawrenceville, GA to the late Albert and Lois (Wages) Hodnett.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodnett was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jean Dupree, his son Scott Hodnett of Athens and sisters Patricia Swikard of Smyrna and Linda Iler Dick of Lawrenceville.
Mr. Hodnett was a retired Lieutenant from the City of Atlanta Police Department and a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.  He is a Veteran of the United States Navy and was proud to have served his country.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, simply known as “Pop Pop” to those who knew and loved him well.  Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Lisa Berryhill and husband Todd of Kennesaw GA; son Michael Hodnett and wife Maria of Gainesville, GA and four grandchildren who forever hold a special place in his heart, Aaron and Leah Berryhill of Kennesaw, GA and Aiden and Skyler Hodnett of Gainesville, GA. 
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Genesis Academy, Oakwood, GA.
