Alma Elizabeth Pruitt

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 15, 2025

Mrs. Alma Elizabeth Pruitt, age 94, of Suches, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025. Born in Suches on June 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Rosa Harkins Tow and the late John Harton Tow.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William J. Pruitt; her children, Tony Mack Pruitt and Joan Wilkins Beall; her siblings Juanita Gooch and JW Tow; stepmother, Thelma Tow; and son-in-laws Robert L. Wilkins and Ben Beall.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith in her children, Steve Pruitt (Marianne) of Suches and Mark Pruitt of Hogansville; grandchildren William Pruitt (Ashley), Morgan Pruitt, Russ Conravey, David Conravey, Tyler Rutledge, Morgan Kruse (Ben), Ashley Wilkins (Candi), Brandy Martin (Joshua), Tracy Wilkins, and Rebecca Lawson (Brian); siblings Janet Jarrard (Alton), Stella Head (Melvin), and Larry Tow; and great-grandchildren Josie Wood, Jack Conravey, Natalie Conravey, Stella Conravey, Ansley Rutledge, Granger Kruse, Gatlin Kruse, Abram Wilkins, Elin Wilkins, Jayce Jenkins, Poppy Jenkins, and Eli Jenkins. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends also survive.

Alma was the heart of her family and a cornerstone of her community. A faithful and long-time member of Zion Baptist Church in Suches, she exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman—strong, compassionate, and full of grace. Alma had a servant’s heart and spent her life caring for others. Her kitchen was always open, and countless meals were lovingly prepared and shared with family, friends, and neighbors.

In addition to her love for family and faith, Alma had a deep passion for gardening. She took great pride in tending her garden, nurturing it season after season with care and dedication. Her shelves were always lined with jars—a testament to her hard work and the joy she found in providing for her loved ones. The fruits of her labor often made their way to the dinner table, lovingly prepared and served to her family. Every meal she served was a labor of love, rooted in tradition and made to bring people together.

She cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her home was a place of welcome and warmth. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and generous love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Zion Baptist Church in Suches, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.
