William Fairhurst Wilson, 83, of Gainesville, GA, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at New Horizons - Lanier Park, where he resided and received exceptional long-term care for the past two years. Mr. Wilson, known as Bill to his family and friends, born July 13, 1941, in Boston, MA, was the eldest child of William Lincoln and Mercey Jeanne Wilson. His educational and professional experiences were highly varied as his thirst for knowledge was insatiable; always seeking to broaden his horizons and share his vast knowledge. If every one of his achievements were formally acknowledged, it would read like a novel of the most extraordinary life, because it truly was. He spoke often of several of his favorite vocations: charter boat captain and yacht salesman, college recruiter, speech/language therapist, rancher, EMT and substance abuse counselor, commercial pilot and flight instructor, to name a few. However vast his accomplishments, he was most proud of the achievements of his children and grandchildren and took every opportunity to extole their successes to anyone willing to listen.
Bill is survived by his adoring and immeasurably attentive, patient, and loving wife, Barbara March Wilson, a sister and brother, three biological daughters, two step-daughters, and two step-sons, as well as several grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
