Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Doris Elaine Stone, age 97, of Athens, Georgia, in the South Jackson community, who passed away on April 12, 2025. Mrs. Stone was born in Mehoopany, Pennsylvania, a daughter to the late Walter and Eva Horton Inman. Mrs. Stone was an inspector with General Electric. She was a member of the Crooked Creek Baptist Church, where she loved serving and talking to people. Mrs. Stone enjoyed playing card games, the company of people, and all cats. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Stone, daughter, Betty Weatherly, brother, Ralph Inman and sister, Elizabeth Lewis.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Weller and her husband Steven of Carthage, NY, Kathy Miller of Minoa, NY; grandchildren, Faith Dunlap, David (Jamie) Miller, Scott (Wendy) Weller, Lisa Weller; Great Grandchildren, Joshua Dunlap, Joseph Dunlap, Reagan Miller, Molly Miller, Kara Weller, Abigail Weller, Alyvia Weller; Great Great Grandchildren, Alea Barrette, Brayden Barrette, Davina Dunlap, Jaxson Dunlap and Gabriella Dunlap and Carter Dunlap also survives.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Crooked Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Brenson Jennings and Dr. Tom Miles officiating. The burial will follow in the Crooked Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Tom Ford, Christian Heiss, Jerry Tate, Tim Tate, Derek Wynne and Jake Stringer honored as pallbearers.
The visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, in the Crooked Creek Baptist Church, prior to the service.
