Mr. James “Pete” Preston Garner, age 77 of Toccoa passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his residence surrounded by family.
A son of the late James and Martha Higgins Garner, he was born December 29, 1947 in Clarkesville, Georgia having lived all of his life in Toccoa. He was self-employed as a Boat Mechanic. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was also a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. James will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He had a big heart and was nice to everyone. He loved to garden, to fish and spend time with is children.
Survivors include his wife, Frankie Jo Lovingood Garner of the home, son Richard Garner of Toccoa, daughter and son-in-law Lenna and Matt Smith of Toccoa, grandchildren Kori Dodgins, Karli Dodgins, Jacob Dodgins, Joseph Dodgins, Makayla Sanders, Colby Garner all of Toccoa, Oryan Garner of Charleston, South Carolina, sisters and brother-in-laws Sue and Perry Davidson of Alto, Georgia, Joann and Donald Loggins of Mount Airy, Georgia, Nina and Rob Rowland of Demorest, Georgia, brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Beverly Garner of Alto, Georgia, two step daughters Jennifer Dockery of Catawba, North Carolina, Michelle Ray of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Five step grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11 o’clock am in the Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
Military Honors will be given by the United States Navy Honor Guard
