Shirley Ann Farr

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Shirley Ann Farr, age 69, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Tuesday April 8, 2025. Mrs. Farr was born in Gainesville, Georgia the daughter of the late Howard David Thomas and the late Blanche Evans Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Douglas Farr, Sr.

Mrs. Farr worked for Wilkins Industry, Jefferson, Georgia as a seamstress and she also worked as a store manager with Rite Aid. She took great pride in keeping her home neat and clean and loved to be outside gardening. Shirley along with her husband , Melvin, started going to BJC Nursing home and having church services for the residents.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher Lee Kelly (Ronda) of Jefferson, GA and Kevin Kelly (Dawn) of Jefferson, GA. Daughter, Melissa Rae Kelly of Commerce, GA. Four grandchildren, Joseph Bradley Kelly, Tyler Ashton Cronic, Jo Jo Botelho-Kelly and Leah Jade Kelly. Sister, Madeline Thomason of Duluth, GA. Brother, Darrell Thomas of Gainesville, GA. Three step-sons, Melvin Farr Jr (Frankie) of Winder, GA, Waymon Farr (Janet) of Winder, GA and Vernon Lee Farr of Banks County, GA.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday April 11, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eric Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson, GA. The family will receive friends Friday prior to the funeral from 12 noon until 2:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.
