Marie Annite Legrand, affectionately known as “Poupette,” passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2025, at 2:30 AM at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton, Georgia. She was 74 years old.
Marie was born on August 21st, 1950, in Port au Prince, Haiti, to her beloved mother, Brunette Legrand. From an early age, she displayed a deep love for her family and an unwavering commitment to her faith—qualities that remained the pillars of her life.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Marie was known for her warm heart and nurturing spirit. Her faith in God was central to her life, and prayer was a daily part of her routine. She was a proud and active member of First Church of God of Brooklyn, where her spiritual life blossomed and where she supported others with grace and compassion.
Her home was always filled with the aroma of delicious food and the comfort of her kind, uplifting words. Through cooking and fellowship, she nourished not only the body but the soul.
Marie cherished her role as a mother, and her children were truly her world. She leaves behind a loving legacy in her children: Alexandra Achille, Karen Achille, and Didier Duprevil, and her daughter-in-law Gayle Cele. Her memory lives on in her grandchildren: Tiffany Mitchell, Brianna Conseillant, and Amaya Conseillant.
She is also survived by her siblings: Brunette Theodore and Patrick Lamarre; her beloved cousin and bonus children: Nadine Rousseau, Marjorie Achille-Salomon, and Roberto Conseillant; and a host of loving nieces, nephews: Danny, Steve, Romy, and Gaelle.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Leon Achille, her mother Brunette Legrand, her younger sister Choupette Lamarre, her son-in-law Eric Johnson, and her cherished bonus daughter Tamika Conseillant.
Marie Annite Legrand’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service to others. She will be remembered not only for her delicious meals and gentle voice but also for the warmth and strength she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
