Mr. Jerry Woody, age 70 of Burke Road, Carnesville, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A son of the late Wesley Pearl Woody and Edna Branham Woody, he was born October 11, 1954 in Weeksbury, Kentucky having lived most of his life in Stephens and Franklin Counties. He was a member of the 1973 Stephens County High School State Champion Baseball Team, having hit the winning home run. He was employed with Bowen and Watson for many years. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, car shows and loved listening to Stephens County Baseball and other sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Woody and Mike Woody and by two sisters, Alice Faye Hendrix and Thelma Thomas
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Wolfie Hughes of Toccoa, Tamara and T. Allen of Hartwell, Jeri Carson of Toccoa and Traci Dean of Carnesville; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Alisha Scott of Athens; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary Woody of Biloxi, Mississippi, Larry Woody and Donald Woody both of Toccoa and Bill Woody of Carnesville; two sisters, Lois Certain and Kathy Ray both of Carnesville; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 10, 2025, 5 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Derrick Woody officiating. Members of the 1973 Stephens County High School State Baseball Championship Team will serve as honorary pallbearers and should assemble at the funeral home by 4:30 p.m.
The family will be at the home of the daughter, Jeri Carson, 125 Creek Drive Toccoa. The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
His wishes were to be cremated.
