Nancy Ellen O’Kon

Nancy Ellen O’Kon, age 82, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-one years, Michael J. O’Kon; parents, Irwin and Gertrude Fields; brother, Jack Fields. Mrs. O’Kon is survived by her daughters, Laura (Wayne) Proctor of Greensboro, NC, Lindsey (Brian) League of Gainesville. GA; son, Scott O’Kon of Brookhaven, GA; grandchildren, Justin League, Jason “JT” League; sister, Claire Fields of Buford; brother, Edward Fields of Marietta, GA. Mrs. O’Kon was born on December 9, 1942 in Atlanta, GA. She was a 1960 graduate of St. Pius Catholic School located in Atlanta, GA and a 1965 graduate of University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Mrs. O’Kon was a retired school teacher from Dekalb County School System with fifteen years of service. She also taught at St. Mary Catholic School in Jackson, Tennessee for fifteen years. Mrs. O’Kon was a member of the St. Monica Catholic Church located in Duluth, GA and was a life time member of Beta Sigma Phi. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Father Baker officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., time of the Service. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to The Dementia Society of America in memory of Nancy Ellen O’Kon.
