Mr. James “Jimmy” Harold Powell, age 67 of Davis Avenue, Toccoa passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.
A son of the late J.T. and Eliza Haddock Powell, he was born July 2, 1957 in Oconee County, South Carolina having lived the greater part of his life in Toccoa. He was retired from the Northeast Georgia Housing Authority. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved to play the piano and listen to country music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Powell and by a brother, Rickey Norris.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Danny Thomason of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy “Scottie” and Suewana Powell of Toccoa; grandchildren, Alex (Bryan) Thomason, Mason Powell, Tyler Powell, Timothy (Gyna) Tullis, Angel Powell and Tommy Tullis and one great-grandchild, Wylder Tullis.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 9, 2025, 2 p.m. at Toccoa City Cemetery with Mr. Dale Payne officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Alex Thomason, Danny Thomason, Bryan Donnely, Timmy Tullis, Danny McIntyre, Andy Pitts and Scottie Powell.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 12 p.m. until time to leave for the graveside. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James “Jimmy” Powell.
