Martha Sue Elrod Shedd Holbrooks

Mrs. Martha Sue Elrod Shedd Holbrooks, age 76 of Toccoa passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at the home of her daughter. 

A daughter of the late Earley Andrew Elrod and Sarah Bell Honeycutt Elrod, she was born February 13, 1949 in Hall County, Georgia having lived in Lula, Georgia before moving to Toccoa. She was employed with Penline Garment Company and Toccoa Garment Company for a number of years.  She was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church.  She was involved with Jerry’s Kids, Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon for some 19 years.  While a patient at Pruitt Health Toccoa, she won a beauty pageant. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald William Holbrooks, five brothers and four sisters. 

Survivors include three daughters, Melinda David and Rebecca Roach both of Toccoa and Donna Galliher of Baldwin, Georgia; son, Donald Wayne Shedd of Toccoa; sixty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 2 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty and The Reverend Jessie Hammons officiating.  Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers, Steven Hammons, Adam Puegh, William Galliher, Christopher Galliher, Jessie Hammons and David McIntyre.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Martha Sue Elrod Shedd Holbrooks.
