Winnell Oliver Hulsey

Obituary Date: Sunday, March 30, 2025

Mrs. Winnell Oliver Hulsey, 96, lifelong Gainesville, Georgia resident, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

            The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. The Reverend Jason Buice will officiate. Interment to follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Clermont, Georgia.

            Mrs. Hulsey was a homemaker and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She loved the Lord. Her true joy was being surrounded by her family. She was affectionately called “Mama Hulsey” by her grandkids and great-grandkids.

            Mrs. Husley was born on November 17, 1928 to late Robert Arnold and Bessie Rogers Oliver.

            In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hulsey is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Hulsey, Jr.; son, Claude Hulsey, III; great-granddaughters, Caitlin and Nicole Hulsey; daughter-in-law, Judy Hulsey; and son-in-law, Virgle Crain.

            Mrs. Hulsey is survived by her children, Bobbie Hulsey Crain; sons, Barry and Stanley Hulsey; her grandchildren, Leighane (Tim) Ballew, Jason (Pam) Hulsey, Curt (Jackie) Hulsey, Andrea (Jason) Buice and Lori (Russell) Ledbetter; 9 precious great-grandchildren Christopher Hulsey, Olivia Buice Swain (Andrew, Morgan Hulsey (Brian) Kent Hulsey, Kylee Hulsey Higdon (Seth), Carly Buice, Abby Hulsey, Luke Ballew, and Lane Hulsey one great-great-grandchild on the way. Sisters, Evelyn Ingram and Joyce (Emory) Forrester and many nieces and nephews.

            She was her absolute happiest when she was serving others. Whether it be by her famous cathead biscuits, chocolate pies, or making someone laugh. She never failed to laugh or cut up every chance she could. She loved deeply and anyone who knew her knew that if no one else loved you. Mama Hulsey did. She was one of a kind and there will never be another one like her. She is now worshipping her Savior in that sweet by and by.
