James “Jim” Edmund Gardner, a faithful husband and fearless leader of his flock entered the presence of the Lord on March 18, 2025 surrounded by his family. As a passionate follower of Christ, Jim devoted his life for the good of others. It was his greatest joy to serve his wife of 47 years and he was proud to be Dad to his six children and Papi to his grandchildren. From coaching youth sports to shepherding students and young adults, Jim delighted in leading and loving others. His life has left an eternal impact around the world.
Left to carry on his incredible legacy are his wife and best friend Vicki Gardner, his children Jeremy Gardner (Meredith), Lauren Babyak (Andrew), Amber Gardner (Sean Williams), Bethany Gardner, Elyse Gardner, Kylie Gibbons (Benjamin); grandchildren Colten, Casen and Landry Gardner; Aaron, Nathan, and Caleb Babyak; Elijah, Silas, Noah, Mathias, Madison, and Jonah Brown; Beckett Simmons and Knox Gardner; and Camden, Edison, and Jensen Gibbons. Jim also leaves behind his step-mother, Lois Grempler; sister, Margaret (Gregory) Dominguez; sister-in-law, Melissa Gardner; brother-in-law, Nicholas (Jeanne) Tracht; several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his step-father and mother, Donald and Margaret Grempler, brothers Daniel and David Gardner, brother-in-law Michael Tracht, grandson Sullivan Gibbons, and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paradise Mountain Ministries in Toccoa, Georgia where Jim and Vicki served as house parents to college-aged children of missionaries.
A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Tom’s Creek Baptist Church in Martin, Georgia. Guests are welcome to wear blue, Jim's favorite color.
