Ellen Gilcini

Obituary Date: Saturday, March 15, 2025

Ellen Glicini, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away on March 15, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on December 7, 1930, in New York, NY, she was known for her direct approach, sharp wit, heart for service and her efforts to always do things right and well. Ellen dedicated her life to her family, always there with a listening ear and a comforting presence.

She was the loving wife of Leno Glicini and the proud mother of Susan Castner, Dr. Robert Glicini (Paula) and Richard Glicini (Jean).   She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her eight grandchildren and their respective spouses; Chris Castner (Rebekah), Kate Gardner (RJ), David Glicini (Jane), Diana Olsen (Tom), Michael Glicini (Emily), Matthew Glicini, Danielle Welek (Ben), Mark Glicini and nine great grandchildren; Chloe Castner, Hayes Gardner, Nathalie Glicini, Lucas Olsen, Madelyn Olsen, Nathan Olsen, Paige Glicini, Molly Glicini and Makenna Welek.

Ellen was very creative and loved artistic endeavors, crafting, sewing and singing.  She was a part of the choir at St. Paul United Methodist Church until her physical limitations forced her to step away.  She had an insatiable curiosity for how things worked and remained very tech savvy even in her advancing years.  She graduated from the High School of Music and Art, New York, NY and went on to secretarial school.  One of her first jobs was with the FBI.  For over 30 years she called Washington Township, NJ home and raised her family there.  Although she was a stay at home mom for many years, after her husband passed away she stepped back into the workforce with her last position being an Administrative Assistant to the CEO for Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Clinic, Gainesville, GA; a position from which she retired.

She had a heart for service and spent many years as head of the Altar Guild for St. Paul United Methodist Church and worked with and held many positions within the United Women of Faith, formerly known as the United Methodist Women.  If she cared about you she could be your fiercest critic and your most avid cheerleader all at the same time.

Ellen is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord and reunited with the love of her life, Leno Glicini, and her parents Martha and Ernest Howey.

Her Celebration of Life will be Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 404 Washington Street, Gainesville, GA 30501.  Her ashes will be interred on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Mark Glicini Meaningful Growth Foundation which provides resources and financial aid to families negatively affected by cancer markglicini.com/foundation St. Paul United Methodist Church or the United Women of Faith.
