Roger Stephen Smith

Roger Stephen Smith passed away on March 19, 2025.

Roger was born in Toccoa, Georgia on August 27, 1948, to the late Walton and Mary Crenshaw Smith. He was a graduate of West Georgia College. He moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1977 to work with Pilot Corporation and considered Knoxville his home. He retired from Rentenbach Engineering in 2014.

Roger was dedicated member of Concord United Methodist Church, where he served in numerous leadership roles during his 45 year membership. He was honored to serve as chairman of the leadership council, stewardship council, staff parish committee, and building committees. Roger also enjoyed being an active leader of the Friendship Sunday Class and United Methodist Men.

Roger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debra, his daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Chris McNeer, and grandchildren Roger and Rae McNeer. He is also survived by siblings Ricky (Veran) Smith, Nan (Ted) Jackson, and Tony (Elizabeth) Smith.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Drive, Knoxville, TN.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Concord United Methodist Church building fund.
