Fred Weaver

Fred Weaver (83), of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on March 19, 2025. Preceding in death, family members include his wife, Emma Ruth Weaver, and two daughters – Theresa Marie and Patricia Gail. Surviving immediate family include: daughter, Irene (Weaver) Mitchell; son-in-law, Frank Mitchell; grandchildren, Holly Mitchell and Joseph Mitchell; grandson, Theodore Mitchell; sister, Polly Bearden; and brothers, Hoyt and Mark Weaver. 

Fred Weaver leaves behind a host of folks who were family, including biological ties in the mountains of North Georgia and beyond, the men who worked with him over the years, and his nearest neighbors the Kersh family. He spent his boyhood years in Bucktown, Georgia, before exploring the world for 11 years as a radioman in the U.S. Navy. His sisters made sure he met a nice girl, and he and Ruth celebrated 55 years together. After serving in the Navy, Fred wore a lot of hats, but he is best known as the face of Weaver Stone Company, the business he built and ran for decades. Along the way, he has helped countless people to pay forward the kindness shown to him when his daughters were terminally ill. It is a tribute to him that he is a mentor and father figure to some and Uncle Fred to others. As recently as this week, he joked that he is not Mister Weaver. 

Fred loved family and gardening in that order. He leaves a legacy of artisan stonework and the fruits and flowers – human as well as botanical – that grow when a generous heart smiles on them.

Visitation will be Friday March 21, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Doug Merck officiating, followed by a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m. at Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 122 Tickanetley Rd., Ellijay, GA  30536
