Marian Vaughn Clark

Obituary Date: Saturday, March 8, 2025

Marian Vaughn Clark, age 90 of Gainesville, took her heavenly flight to be with the Lord, Leon and her puppies, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 8, 2025.   She was born in Commerce, Ga on August 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Keith Vaughn and Helen Vaughn Patterson and Gordon Patterson.

She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Clark and Richard (Pam) Clark, Grandson, Russ (Ashley) Clark and her precious great-grandsons, Landon, Jase and Dawson.  Brother, James “Jim”(Myrtle) Vaughn of Cornelia, GA and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins who were special to her. Special neighbors, Betty Norrell and Betty Jo Villyard.

She joins her loving husband of 40 years, Leon Clark, brothers, J Harrell Vaughn, William “Billy” Vaughn and John Vaughn, sisters, Grace Bennett and Ora May Cain.

She attended business school in Gainesville and worked at Day, Reynolds & Parks until her marriage.  She then kept the books for Leon Clark Construction and helped Leon raise the boys. She & Russ visited many at the  job site for lunch. She spent countless hours in the garden beside Leon and his well known tomatoes, delivering them to many local residents. She was a wonderful caregiver, caring for both Leon’s parents and Leon for many years. Several Pekinese pups found a good home with her, treated like her children.   She loved watching a good football game, reading a mystery or working a jigsaw puzzle. Her later years were spent caring for her great grands and making cookies for them to have when they got off the bus every day.

Marian was a member of Dewberry Baptist #1 and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class faithfully writing cards to the elderly and sick.  She was a true Proverbs 31 woman.

Her last days were spent looking for her hearing aids, her walker, burning toast and trying to figure out the TV remote and the telephone.

The family will receive friends at Dewberry Baptist Church #1, 4642 Clarks Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA,  Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until1:00 p.m. with the service at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow in the church cemetery.  Pastor Carl Andreasen and Pastor Gary Jarnagin officiating.

Flowers are accepted but donations may be made to the Dewberry Baptist # 1 building fund.  Mail c/o Vickie Reece, 5807 Henson Road, Gainesville, GA 30506.
