Mr. Charles F. “Pee Wee” Smith age 92 of Gainesville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Preacher and longtime friend Rev. Henry Loggins will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Born on February 5, 1933 in Pendergrass, GA, he was the son of the late Mac Allan Smith and the late Rowena Floyd Smith. He was a standout basketball and baseball player at Air Line High School. After high school, he continued playing baseball with the Industrial Mill Baseball League which was considered equivalent to Class A minor league baseball. A proud Veteran of the United States Army Infantry Division. He retired from Chicopee Manufacturing after 39 years of service.
Mr. Smith was married to the Love of his life, Sarah V. “Bootsie” (Seabolt) Smith for 67 wonderful years. His family was his everything and he spent countless hours watching his grandchildren playing sports. He loved his great grandchildren and wanted to see them daily. Mr. Smith was a member of Dewberry Baptist Church # 2.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sarah Virginia Smith; sisters, Kathleen Davidson, Carolyn Adams, Hilda Hill, Bobbie Jean Reece and brothers, Horace Smith and W.A. “Pete” Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his son and daughter in law, Randy and Sally Smith; granddaughter and husband, Katie and Trey Pinson of Gainesville; grandsons, Capt. Andrew Smith of Washington, DC, Ty Smith of Gainesville; brother and wife, J.A. “Jim” and Gwen Smith of Gainesville; great grandchildren, Beau and Annie Lynn as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
