Charles “Charlie” David Shuler, age 63, of Bethlehem, GA, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edith Shuler; brother, Roger Shuler. Mr. Shuler is survived by his wife, Sharon Shuler of Bethlehem, GA; daughters, Robin (Eric) Stephens of Lowell, MA, Caitlin (David, Jr.) Kennedy, of Monroe, GA, Lauren (Nicholas) Anderson of Bethlehem, GA; grandchildren, Analeigh, Bella, Lilia, Cameron, and Logan; brother, Henry H. (Tammy) Shuler, Jr. of AL; sister, Phyllis (Vernon) Dantzler of Greenville, AL; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; special dog, Bama.
Charlie was a man of simple pleasures. He could always find something to smile and laugh about. He loved to hunt. He loved his football (never could miss an Alabama game). He had such a green thumb he could start a garden without even meaning too - and boy did he love his 'maters. Especially a good tomato sandwich. He was an animal lover through and through, and no matter how many times he said "No more animals" he would be the first one to bring home yet another. He loved his dogs and almost always had one outside of being stationed abroad.
Being part of the army gave him a lot of skills. As part of the 101st Airborne Division, Air Assault Unit he would tell you about learning to jump out of helicopters. But the skill he used most was the ability to fall asleep any time any place. Just give him a moment to be still and he would be out. But if asked he would tell you he was "just resting" his eyes.
But he played as hard as he rested and was fond of vacations and adventures with his family. Beloved father, uncle, and in recent years "Pop-pop" taught so many children how to ride a bike, how to drive, and how to sneak a snack from Oma's pantry.
"Be sweet, be good, love you."
