Otis William Dover

Obituary Date: Friday, March 7, 2025

Mr. Otis William Dover, 86, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2025 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Austin will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Monday, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Dover was born in Union County on August 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Joe Dover and Estelle (Latimer) Dover. He was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church.

Mr. Dover worked for Fieldale as a truck driver for over 30 years and retired. He then worked for University of North Georgia as a groundkeeper for over 15 years. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. 

Mr. Dover loved to fish and play guitar. He loved the GA Bulldogs and football.

Mr. Dover was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, J.S., Eugene, Grover, Marvin, Bobbie, Dot, Eddie and Carol.

Mr. Dover is survived by his nephew, Benson J. Clark of Gainesville; his lifelong friend, Mr. Ray Hughes; his UNG grounds buddy, Corey Young of Cleveland as well as numerous other family and friends.

He will be missed!
