Luther “Tommy” Justus

Mr. Luther “Tommy” Justus, age 79, of Dahlonega, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025. Tommy was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on September 16, 1945, to the late Edward and Leona Justus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Tina Justus Potts, grandson Joey Middlebrooks, and sister Sondra Hood. 

Tommy was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He enjoyed working with his dad on Lumpkin County roads. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was a member of Cooper - Green Men’s Prayer Group. He enjoyed attending the prayer group at the Dahlonega Baptist Church as long as he was physically able.   He was known as the” candy man” there and he enjoyed handing out candy to the children. He loved his dogs, Brownie, Prissy, Little Jack and Butterscotch. He lived his last year at Lotus Senior Living in Cumming GA with his wife Betty. 

Survivors include his wife of 40 years Betty Jones Justus; daughter Diedra Middlebrooks; sons Randy Justus (Lisa) and Charles Justus (Tina); brother Jimmy Justus (Janice), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a later time.  

Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Cooper-Green Men’s Prayer Group, or Family Hospice Cumming GA.
