Dwight Gilbert, 59, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday March 5, 2025 following a sudden illness.
Born July 28, 1965, Dwight had been a resident of Dawson County for most of his life. For many years he operated Gilbert Grading and Hauling in Dawsonville. Dwight enjoyed hot-rods, motorcycles and most of all his grandchildren who knew him as “Pop Pop”. He leaves behind many dear friends who he loved very much. Preceding him in death are his parents, Larry and Retha Gilbert, step-father, Alvie Ray Clemons and son, Chuck Gilbert.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Annie Gilbert of Dawsonville; children, Ashley Smith (Marcus) of Sugar Hill, Michael Gilbert of Dawsonville, Allison Boynton (Patrick) of Gainesville, Abbigail Gilbert of Dawsonville; 8 grandchildren; siblings, Chris Gilbert of Panama City Beach, Florida, Penny Wilson (Tim) of Big Canoe; step-brother, Scotty Clemons (Betty) of Cumming; daughter-in-law, Deidra Scales of Cumming, Kayla Gilbert of Dahlonega; other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday March 10, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sammy Wright will officiate. Interment will follow in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday March 9 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to help offset final expenses.
