It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Warren Comer Lower, of Gainesville, GA, who died peacefully on March 4, 2025, at the age of 89.
Warren was born in Roanoke, VA, on January 10, 1936, to the late Irad and Elizabeth Comer Lower.
Warren is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Fleenor Lower; his parents, Irad and Elizabeth Lower; his sister, Ruth Craig of Birmingham, AL; and his brother, Sonny Lower of Roanoke, VA.
He is survived by his three children: David Lower (and Tami) of Medina, Oh; Amy Beth Pierce (and Clayton) of Salem, VA; and Cindy Enzor (and Wally) of Gainesville, GA. He is also lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren: Evans Pierce, Payton Lower, Will Enzor, Jacob Enzor and Addison Enzor.
Warren graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, VA, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, in 1958. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves after joining the military in 1958. In 1960, Warren married his cherished wife Jane in a snowstorm in Roanoke, and together they built a life in Bristol, VA, and Lenoir, NC before settling in Roanoke to raise their family. Warren worked for the family business, Eades and Lower Insurance, for many years.
In 1984, Warren and Jane embarked on a new adventure, stepping out in faith to join the hospitality industry in Myrtle Beach, SC. The became the managers of the Bel Aire Motel in North Myrtle Beach, where they embraced the beach life, made lifelong friends, and created countless cherished memories. After retiring in 2005, they relocated to Gainesville, GA, to be near their young grandchildren.
Warren was a lifelong lover of sports, particularly baseball, and devoted many years to coaching Little League teams in Virginia. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and he attended as many of their activities as possible, including hockey games, karate tournaments, ballet recitals, and school events. His pride and joy in his children and grandchildren were evident in every conversation.
Those who knew Warren will remember his as a kind and loving man with a heart as big as his stature. He was an exceptional host and made everyone feel like family, whether it was friends and fellow travelers from Gainesville First United Methodist or the many children and grandchildren who passed through his door. Warren’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Warren on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 3:00 pm, in the Gainesville First United Methodist Church Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service in the Church Reception Hall.
