Wayne M. Wright

Wayne M. Wright, age 85, of Dawsonville, GA died Monday, March 3, 2025 after a sudden illness at Salude Rehabilitation in Suwanee.

Mr. Wright was born on December 28, 1939 to the late Arvil and Gladys Reagan Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Verlin Wright, his son, Whitney Wayne Wright and his son-in-law, Larry L. Smith. Wayne was employed by Standard Telephone Company with 32 years of service. He was also employed by Publix and Reeves Floral Wholesale for a number of years. Wayne and his wife Gail owned and operated Dawsonville Florist for over 55 years. He was a 1958 graduate of Dawson County High School, was a 50 year member of the Etowah Lodge #222 F&AM, an avid coffee drinker, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Wayne was a member of First Redeemer Church.

Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Gail Wallace Wright, Dawsonville, GA; his children, Misty Wright Smith, Lincoln, AL, Spencer and Lora Whitfield Wright, Dawsonville, GA, John and Stormie Wright Whitfield, Cornelia, GA; his grandchildren, McKenzi and Corbin Thomas, Dawsonville, GA, Sawyer Smith, Dawsonville, GA, Maggie Wright and her fiancé Hunter Mosher, Augusta, GA, Piper and TJ Allen, Augusta, GA, Tate Whitfield, Macon, GA, Jasper Whitfield, Cornelia, GA, Kyndle Wright, Dawsonville, GA, Grayson Smith, Lincoln, AL, Sadie Whitfield, Cornelia, GA, his great-grandchildren: Owen and Emerson Thomas, Dawsonville, GA.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 am at Dawsonville City Cemetery with Melvin Benson and Rev. Mike Schmidt officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Bearden Funeral Home.
