Thomas Eugene "Gene" Autry

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Thomas Eugene “Gene” Autry, age 75 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Sunday, March 2, 2025. Mr. Autry was born in Chamblee, Georgia a son of the late John Henry Autry and the late Ruby Lee Ledbetter Autry. Mr. Autry was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and was retired from Gwinnett County Public Utilities.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Adams Autry of Jefferson. Children, Alicia Porter (Jacob) of Mableton, Tracy Gilreath (Branson) of Gainesville, and Brandee Autry of Oakwood. Brother, David Autry (Debra) of Jefferson. Sisters, Linda Autry of Jefferson and Martha Smith (Tim) of Jefferson. Step-son, Matt Bailey (Amber) of Barnesville, GA. Sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Yancey officiating with burial to follow in Evans Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home.
