Wanda Elaine Timmis Shadle of Dawsonville, GA passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Mrs. Shadle was born May 10, 1936, in Parker’s Landing, PA, to Frank Timmis and Elsie Cathcart Timmis.
Wanda grew up in northwest PA and graduated from Titusville High School in 1954. She married David LeRoy Shadle on June 2, 1956. David was in the US Air Force and Wanda traveled with him to Rome, NY, Wells-Next-the-Sea, England, and Holyoke, MA. Following David’s discharge in 1963, he and Wanda returned to their home area of northwest PA. In 1976, Dave and Wanda and their children relocated to GA where she lived until her death.
Wanda’s life was centered around her family – her mother and siblings, her children, and in-laws. She cherished time with them during holidays and other events. She spent many years raising her own children as well as caring for grandchildren and numerous other children of working parents. She had a special gift and innate sense with children and they loved her in return.
Wanda had a deep faith in God and lived to follow Jesus’ teachings. She had confidence in the ministry established by Jesus, and her home was open to those who were called to the ministry. She loved fellowship with her spiritual brothers and sisters, so Sunday morning meetings, Wednesday night Bible studies, gospel meetings and conventions were highlights of her life. Her faithfulness to God had a profound impact on her children and grandchildren, as well as friends and neighbors.
The last three years she lived with her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Megan and Deland Bragg. During that time, a great grandson, Jasper, was born. Wanda and Jasper had a special loving relationship, a great joy to Wanda.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elsie Timmis, her husband, Dave; a sister, Janet Henc of PA; and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Shadle, along with several of her husband’s siblings and spouses. Wanda is survived by her children, Brenda (Keith) Brown, Cleveland, GA; Sharon (Leslie) Turpin, Gainesville, GA; Tom (Joann) Shadle, Savannah, GA; Bryan Shadle, Wrens, GA; and Philip (Sheralyn) Shadle, Dawsonville, GA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, March 3, 2025 from 6-8 PM at Memorial Park South Funeral Home 4121 Falcon Parkway, Flowery Branch, GA. Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 1100 AM, with internment in the Memorial Park cemetery. Ministers will be Sharon Wahlin, Connor Turpin, and George Lee.
