Ophelia Skelton Estes, 103 of Murfeesboro, Tennessee formerly of Gainesville, Ga. passed away Friday February 28, 2025, in Murfeesboro.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville, Georgia on Friday March 7th. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Mark Aiken.
Mrs. Estes was born in Cleveland, Georgia to the late Claude and Dora Hogan Skelton.
Survivors include her daughter Ann Estes Davis, Murfreesboro, Tn., Grandsons: Brandon (Lauren) Davis, Salem, Alabama and Hunter (Yong) Davis Mt Juliet, TN.
She is also survived by the apples of her eye: Charlotte Rose Davis, Salem, Alabama, Camden Hunter Davis, Mt Juliet, TN, and Amelia James Davis, Salem, Alabama. She is survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved deeply. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Estes.
Mrs. Estes served as Office Manager and Bookkeeper for both Northern Freight Lines and Brock Tire Company for 37 years. After they sold, she was bookkeeper for other entities such as a Non-profit and electrical company. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church on Washington Street.
Mrs. Estes was most proud of her many contributions to her church, her volunteer work for the community in general and all the many blankets she crocheted for new babies and many others from Georgia to Tennessee.
She was truly a remarkable woman in many ways. She served as an inspiration to so many without even realizing it. Her 103 years of life were lived richly, and she left a true legacy for so many to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions please be made to the Georgia Mountain Food Bank in memory of Mrs. Estes.
