James “Peter” Pokrant, age 61, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Paula Pokrant, and sister, Kathryn Pokrant. Mr. Pokrant is survived by daughters, Emily Brynn Pokrant of Spring Hill, TN, and Kathryn Isabella Pokrant of Buford, GA; sons, Andrew Peter Pokrant of Buford; brothers, Jeffrey Pokrant of Rochester, NY, and John (Marcia) Pokrant of Centerville, VA; nephews, Justin Pokrant and Jonathan Pokrant; and several cousins. Mr. Pokrant was born on June 5, 1963 in Rochester, NY. He graduated in 1981 from Pittsford Mendon High School and in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Chemistry from Williams College where he was a member of Williams Octet singing group. Mr. Pokrant had worked over 20 years for USAN, Inc as a data analyst. He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA, and had once attended Calvary Chapel in Stone Mountain as well as Crosspointe Church in Duluth, GA. Mr. Pokrant had many hobbies: he loved singing, working puzzles, playing games and pickleball, and spelunking caves. He did a lot of volunteer work, helping other people, even those he did not know. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Shorthill officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until time for the service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Food Bank in Gainesville, GA.
