William Randy Murray, a devoted husband, father, leader, and visionary, passed away on February 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, innovation, and love.
Born on March 14, 1948, he was the second child of the late Clyde and Mozelle Murray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger and Clay Murray.
A man of deep commitment to his community, Randy served as both Commissioner and Mayor of the City of Toccoa, Georgia, where his leadership left an indelible mark on the city he loved. His influence extended beyond local government, as he also served on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Film and Video Commission, helping to shape the state's growing impact in the entertainment industry.
Randy’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish the Murray System, a groundbreaking insurance sales system that grew into a nationally recognized model of success. His dedication to innovation and excellence in his field transformed the industry and provided countless individuals with opportunities for professional growth.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Randy was a man of warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family. He found great happiness in traveling, perfecting his golf swing, and creating cherished memories with those he loved most.
Randy Murray’s life was one of purpose, passion, and generosity. His impact on his family, his community, and his industry will be felt for generations to come. While he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Murray, his two daughters, Elizabeth “Bett” Murray and Claire Murray, who were the pride and joy of his life and by his sister, Sally Murray Gillespie.
A celebration of his remarkable life will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, 2 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Judge James E. Cornwell, Jr. and The Reverend David Crisp officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday from noon until the service time at 2 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
