James Loyd Griffin, Sr.

Mr. James Loyd Griffin, Sr., age 60 of Persimmon Street, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Stephens County Hospital.

A son of the late Roy Lee Griffin, Sr. and Ruby Jean Fowler Griffin, he was born December 11, 1964 in Leesburg, Florida where he lived in his younger years but had lived most of his life in Stephens County.  He was a self-employed brick mason.  He loved his family, enjoyed fishing and loved to whittle.  He was of the Holiness faith and attended Tabernacle Holiness Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcine Hubbard Griffin, brothers, Daniel Griffin and Roy Lee Griffin, Jr. and sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Roger Ray.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly and Nathan O’Barr and Amber Griffin both of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, James Griffin, Jr. and Natasha of Toccoa; grandchildren, Cecelia O’Barr, Triscity Griffin, Amyliana Griffin, Alan Griffin, Noel Griffin, Gabriel Griffin, Harley Griffin, Carina O’Barr and Faith Griffin; sisters, Karen Setren and Elise Wilbanks both of Toccoa; sister-in-law, Cindy Griffin of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 21, 2025, 2 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Dorsey Holmes officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and should assemble at the funeral home by 1:00 p.m., James Griffin, Jr., Anthony Charles, Adam Griffin, Brandon Griffin, Travis Long and Jerry Griffin.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from noon until the service time.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Loyd Griffin, Sr.
