Gail Sicafuse Evans

Obituary Date: Friday, February 7, 2025

Evans, Gail Sicafuse, of Johns Creek, Georgia, died on February 7, 2025.  Gail met the love of her life, Peter Evans, in preschool in the small town where they both grew up. Their 58 year-long marriage stood as a testament to faithfulness and loving devotion and was a constant source of joy to both of them. Gail and Pete raised their family as they navigated multiple moves to different parts of the country following new career opportunities. While Pete found success as an executive in the textile industry, Gail directed a series of church-based preschools that benefited from her unique insight into the lives of young children. At each stop along the way, Gail’s leadership resulted in thriving communities of teachers, students and, importantly, parents. Gail was known and loved as a mentor to young mothers and fathers and many credit her with helping to build a strong foundation for their families.

Gail was selflessly dedicated to raising her own family drawing inspiration from her deep Christian faith. She had an endless supply of love and patience for her children and was a role model for treating all people with kindness and respect. Her resilience was remarkable as she achieved notable professional success while managing a household often on her own as Pete traveled frequently for work. In addition, she became an integral volunteer and tireless lay leader in Presbyterian congregations at each new home. Her joyful embrace of God’s church reflected her rich spiritual life and unshakeable values.

Gail was born on January 27, 1937, in Poland, Ohio, and ultimately retired to Dahlonega, Georgia, with Pete in 2002. They were active in the Dahlonega and Gainesville communities until Pete’s death in 2018 when Gail moved to the Johns Creek area to be closer to her children. The family is grateful to all of Gail’s caregivers at the end of her life and especially the hospice nursing staff of Lotus Blossom.

In addition to Pete, Gail is preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Donald Sicafuse and her daughter-in-law Teri Evans. She is survived by her children Doug Evans, Keith and Emilie Evans, Amy and Todd Lee, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. The family gathered to celebrate her life on Saturday, February 15th, at Alpharetta Presbyterian Church and request that gifts in her honor be made to the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
