Dennie Maurice Brooks

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Dennie Maurice Brooks, age 88, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered surrounded by his family, Friday January 31, 2025. Mr. Brooks was born in Smith County, Tennessee the son of the late Clyde Brooks and the late Clellie Ramsey Brooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Minnie Sanders, Sandra York and Patricia Frey, and two brothers, Douglas Wayne Brooks and Vert Lee Brooks.

Mr. Brooks was owner/operator of Greenbrier Starter and Alternator Service in Greenbrier Tennessee. Dennie was a member of Jefferson First Baptist Church here he was a Deacon Emertis.  He loved to spoil his grandchildren and always enjoyed family activities.He was an avid classic car retstorer, he took pride in winning numerous classic car restoration awards.  He never missed a car show… or a late night desert. Mr. Brooks was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Brooks of Jefferson, GA. Two sons, Dewitt M. Brooks of Seattle, Washington and Doug Brooks (Elissa) of Hoschton, GA. Five grandchildren, Emily Brooks of Nashville, TN, Allison Brooks of Nashville, TN, Nick Brooks (Kaitlin) of Cumming, GA, Mitchell Shreiner (fiance’ Samantha Sharpe) of Atlanta, GA, and Alyssa Brooks of Canton, GA. Brother, Jack Brooks (Sara) of Nashville, TN. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday February 23, 2025 at Jefferson First Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Long officiating and Mr. Fred Gurley giving a eulogy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the church.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult 3 Sunday School Class and Deacons of Jefferson First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Northeast Georgia Hospice.
