Erline Loper Coats

Obituary Date: Friday, January 31, 2025

The world feels a little emptier without Erline Loper Coats. She was a woman who lived with love, creativity, and unshakable strength. She passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, leaving behind a family who adored her and a lifetime of memories that will never fade.

Born on January 21, 1946, in Ashburn, Georgia, to Jack and Lottie Mae Loper, Erline grew up with a bright spirit and determination. She later made her home in Flowery Branch, Georgia, where she spent over thirty years with her beloved husband, Robert Coats, building a life filled with love, laughter, and faith.

She was the devoted mother of her two sons, Michael Pate and Jammy Pate, and the proud grandmother of Carson Pate, Anabella Pate, Gabriella Pate, and Lucinda Pate. To them, she was more than a mother or grandmother. She was their anchor, their biggest supporter, and the person who made every holiday and family gathering feel special.

Erline was a creator in every sense of the word. She baked cakes that turned birthdays into magical celebrations, sewed dolls that carried the warmth of her hands, and planted gardens that were as vibrant as her spirit, with daylilies being her favorite. Her deep Christian faith guided her through life's challenges, which she faced with unwavering courage and heart. She believed in the power of love, kindness, and perseverance and lived those values daily.

She is now reunited with her husband Robert, her twin sister Geraldine Phelps, and her brothers Lamar Loper and George Loper. Though she is gone, her strength and love remain in the lives she touched, and the faith she carried so deeply continues to shine through those who knew her.

Her family will honor her life in a private remembrance, holding onto the countless moments of love she gave them. Instead of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in her memory, a simple but fitting tribute to a woman who made the world brighter just by being in it.
