Cary Brandon Phagan of Gainesville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, February 10th 2025.
Cary was born January 17th, 1972, in Toccoa, Georgia to Delma “Sonny” Cecil Phagan Jr. and Cindy Cape (Phagan). He is preceded in death by his father Sonny; his Aunt Susan; maternal grandfather James Quinn (Pappy) and grandmother Carrie Quinn (Nanny); and his “Mama Jo” Westmoreland Phagan.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Phagan; mother Cindy Cape and stepfather Earl Cape; daughters Alex (Barrett) Puckett and Camille (Cody Englar) Phagan and son Matthew (Madelyn Iodice) Phagan; brother Stephen Phagan; stepdaughters Clarissa (Shelby Moore) Dunagan and Maggie-Reece Dunagan; loving dog Piper Louise; grandchildren Jake, Rhett, Rhys, Braxton, and Luke; and numerous other family members.
Cary was employed by Quad Graphics for over 20 years and recently the Mars-Wrigley company. He held a black belt in Jujitsu, loved the outdoors and tinkering with his boat “Miss Tooley”. Cary always wanted to be on the water and spent his childhood water skiing with his Pappy at their lake house. He had a passion for motorcycles, camping, machinery and cooking, creating dishes as unique as he was. He loved to spend time with his grandsons and children. Cary was adventurous to the end and was always ready to have a good time. He could often be found in his shop, spending time on the porch, or on the lake. Cary fought a hard battle with cancer for three years. He stayed strong through the pain and the trials, never wanting to give up. We will always remember him most for his sense of humor, fun loving personality, and passionate spirit.
