James ”Jim” John Rouse was born June 28,1940 and died at his home February 8, 2025, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
Jim was born in Libertyville, IL to Harry M. Rouse and Constance Virginia Rouse (Rollins). He attended Mississippi State University. While at State he met his future wife Julia Ann Bennett of Laurel, MS and earned a degree in Industrial Business. Upon graduation he served 2 years as a second LT in the army and 6 years in the National Guard. Jim joined Humble Oil and Refining out of Mississippi State which later became ExxonMobil. In 2004 after 42 years of service Jim retired from ExxonMobil as a Corporate Vice President in the Washington DC office.
Jim loved MSU and was committed to giving back. In 2012 Jim received the National Alumnus of the year award and in 2016 received an Honorary Doctorate Degree. Over the years, he created an endowed professorship for the business school, funded a 9,000 sq ft weight room in the Holliman Athletic Center, donated a 1929 Model-A-Roadster used for campus events and was the lead donor for the Famous Maroon Band’s artificial turf marching field.
Jim loved traveling with his family and attending MSU, Texas A&M and Texans football games. He also enjoyed time spent in Horseshoe Bay, Texas boating, swimming and fishing with his grandchildren.
Jim’s generosity and optimism impacted countless people. He always had a positive attitude and was loved by all who met him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Julia Bennett Rouse, brother Richard Rouse and son in law Bill Fuller. He is survived by daughters Lisa (Jeff) Taylor of Cumming GA, and Connie Fuller of Zionsville, IN. Grandchildren Chris Taylor, Claire Taylor, Connie Taylor, Kathleen Fuller, Scott (Jordan) Fuller, Brian Fuller, 3 Great Grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
